I find it hard to digest why you were paying for anitivirus s/w in the 1st place. There are so many free for personal use packages that are better than symantec- they even hog less memory. ( I use Avast).
On chrome i agree with Ranjith (above). It starts up super quick, has a lean and clean look. I love the omnibox feature thats got a cool way to perform site specific search. It significantly enhances yr browsing speed by reducing no. of mouse clicks. delicious was the only plugin that i sorely missed from firefox but i have found a workaround for that in chrome ( from the delicious site itself). But yes i agree on rare occassions chrome hangs -and my system shows 100% cpu usage.its frustating when that happens but otherwise this google baby rocks!
I also tried out IE 8 beta 2. MS no longer does the genuine windows check like it did for IE7 install ;)) True to MS culture IE8 copies most features that already exist in firefox or other browsers.
And about iCon - thanks for the tip. I was going to buy it.

Chrome's sold me on the look. And it takes lesser time to open a local HTML file than Firefox (Shud b because of the add ons). Otherwise, it is killing my comp for memory, which never happened with Firefox.

Do Landmark believe in customer promotion? I've been accumulating points for over an year now. Got nothing so far. I did go to Landmark last week. Bought a couple of Archies as well. No discounts there :(.

I am staying well away from Chrome too. Firefox s good enough for me, and I don't want to turn Google into another MSFT with a finger in everything I do.

The star tortoise looks beautiful - I just hope he gets into some undergrowth and lives a long, undisturbed life - given how many poachers are around :(
